LaplandUK creators visit the roots of
Father Christmas in Turkey
Mike and Alison Battle took their family to Demre in Turkey to visit the Church of St Nicholas, birthplace of the modern Father Christmas legend. St Nicholas was a fourth century red robed Turkish bishop who secretly carried out great acts of kindness and was a patron saint of children. Legend has it one day he climbed onto the rooftop of a poor neighbour unable to afford his daughter's dowry and dropped a purse of coins down the chimney- it landed in a stocking drying by the fireplace and so the tradition of a kindly gift bearer bringing presents down the chimney was born.
Commander's Reception and Beating the Retreat
LaplandUK founders Mike and Alison Battle were honoured to be invited by Brigadier Wolsely of the South East Brigade to attend the Commander's Reception and traditional Beating of the Retreat Ceremony performed by the Band of the Brigade of Gurkhas at Dover Castle on July 14th. The Reception was to thank members of the community for supporting the Armed Forces during the year and for LaplandUK, this meant providing complimentary visits to the families of the Armed Forces.
LaplandUK is delighted to have welcomed more Forces' families as our guests this season.
The queue is growing!
We are excited to report that the number of you who have registered your interest for priority tickets is up 24% year on year. Don't forget to let your friends know they can book early by registering at http://www.laplanduk.co.uk/email_capture.php
